Hosted in collaboration with the African Centre for eHealth Excellence (Acfee), eHealthNews and MEval-SIFSA, and sponsored by the South African Health Informatics Association (SAHIA) and HISP, eHealthALIVE2016 is the first of its kind conference dedicated to driving eHealth excellence in Southern Africa. eHealthALIVE2016 will provide a platform for eHealth luminaries to discuss key topics and hold masterclasses designed to share insights, tools and best practices that attendees can take away and implement.

Over the two day event attendees will hear from keynote speakers representing government, academia and the private sector on important healthcare issues. President of the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC), Prof Glenda Gray, will deliver a keynote address on today’s health needs that eHealth must address and General Manager at the Praekelt Foundation, Debbie Rogers, and Technical Assistant to the National Department of Health, Dr Peter Barron, will talk about how mHealth is creating access to healthcare as well as opportunities to realise personalised healthcare for individuals in Southern Africa.

Over the two day event attendees will hear from keynote speakers representing government, academia and the private sector on important healthcare issues.

There will also be Round Table discussions on personalised health, connectivity and National eStrategies led by expert panellists from across the sub-Saharan region.

There will also be a number of much anticipated masterclasses which will see Assistant Scientist at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Dr Amnesty LeFevre, talking to Ministries of Health from across the SADC region about lessons learned and strategies going forward; as well as a two-part Interoperability (IOP) masterclass where the audience will be given the opportunity to pose questions to an expert panel about how to best achieve interoperability within the local context. The panel comprises of leaders in IOP locally and abroad, including Charles Parisot from GE Healthcare representing IHE, Matthew Chetty from CSIR Meraka Institute, Dr Sean Broomhead from Acfee, Clive Daniell from SAHIA, and international representatives from IHE and IHTSDO.
