GRACA MACHEL: We have the scientific technological capacity to do it. Resources do exist in the world to do it. We have the capacity to mobilize goodwill and the goodness in every single human being. There’€™s no reason why we have to continue to lose lives. Our commitment is exactly to move away the obstacles which are still preventing us from getting the great success of having every single person in our communities mobilized. Acting in a chain of solidarity together with our governments, together with private sector, together with the international community but Bangkok has to be the end of promises made, promises broken.

Translation: Sinobuchwepheshe bokwenza imimangaliso. Izakhono zokwenza umsebenzi ziyafumaneka kwihlabathi. GRACA: We have 20 years of learning, 20 years of painful loss of lives but we as leaders also have lots of credibility. We say step by step we will come back to people living with HIV/AIDS. To children, to young people especially girls, to women to all the vulnerable groups; we have to come back and say what we have done. What we are still learning we don’€™t know how to deal with. But to make sure that in 20 years time when the generation of my grand daughter looks back we will feel that we are leaders. We can deserve to be called leaders because we take our responsibility at fullest.

Translation: Sibe neminyaka eli-20 yokufunda, eli-20 yobuhlungu nokuphulukana nobomi. Kodwa njengeenkokeli nathi sinegalelo. Sithi umzamo ngomzamo sakubuaya sithi kubantu abaphila nentsholongwane kagawualyo ukuba senze oku noku. Kubantwana, kulutsha ingakumbi kumatnsombazana Amakhosikazi nabo bathi babe ngabona abasesichengeni sakubuya sichaze osele sikwenzile okumele sikwenze nesisakufundayo singakwazi ukuba siqhubeke njani nako. Sifuna ukuba kwiminyaka eyi-20 xa isizukulwana somzukulwana wam xa sijonga emva nathi sizive nyani sizinkokeli. Yaye sifanele ukuba singabizwa njengee nkokeli kuba siye sakwazi ukwenza umsebenzi ngendlela.

Umandela uthi abo abaphila nale ntsholongwane kufuneka baphathwe njenga bantu hayi amanani abalwayo nje.

MANDELA: I cannot rest until I’€™m certain that the global response is sufficient. The importance of tackling this issue should not be undermined by the many other problems that confront the global society today. In the course of human history there has never been a greater threat than the HIV/AIDS epidemic. History will surely judge us harshly if we do not respond with all the energy and resources that we can link today in the fight against HIV/AIDS. We share a common humanity with our brothers and sisters suffering in this epidemic. Ask yourself what you can do as global citizens in the fight against HIV and AIDS.   We also called upon donors to substantially increase their funding for the fight against AIDS. This applies not only to governments but also to the private sector and private foundations. It also applies to every global citizen, no amount of money is too small to make a difference.

Translation: Andisayi kuze ndiphumle de ndibe nesiqinisekiso sokuba ihlabathi linikezela ngenxaso eyaneleyo. Kufuneka ungadelelwa umba wokuphathwa komba kagawulayo kubekwe phambili eminye imiba echaphazela ihlabathi.Ezimbalini zehlabathi akuzange kubekho inxhalabo engaka njengenthsolongwane kagawulayo. Esi sikhuni sakubuya ngathi xa kujongwa indima esayidlala ukukhawulelana nogawulayo ukuba asizami unako nako sinikezele ngamandla onke esinawo sidlala indima ebalulekileyo ukulwa ugawulayo. Siva intlungu enye nabanakwethu noodade bethu abava lentlungu kagawulayo. Zibuze umbuzo wokuba unganceda njani njengommi wehlabathi. Oku kuquka nabatyali zimali, oosomashishini babucala nelizwe jikelele. Amalizo anikezelwayo akangekhe abe mancinci kodwa ucuntsu akafani noshici.

Translation: Umandela uthi kungakho uthsintsho ukuba kungamanyanwa ukulwa ugawulayo. Kungoko ememelele ilizwe ukubangabana malibambane ukuphumelelisa ingxowa mali yehlabathi iGlobal Fund.

MANDELA: I have challenged countries to develop comprehensive HIV/AIDS prevention and care programmes. This includes the great importance of providing access to the antiretroviral treatment that is urgently needed to save millions of lives. We have highlighted the needs of marginalized population such as refugees, migrant workers, intravenous, drug users, prisoners and sex workers. We urge countries to make the policy changes that are necessary to protect the human rights of those that suffer from unfair discrimination.

Translation: Ndidlale indima ndibongoza izirhulumente ukuba ziguqule iinkonzo zonyango nomgaqo wempilo. Oku kuquka nokunikezelwa kwezithomalalisi. zikagawulayo nezifuneka kakhulu kwizigidi ngezigidi zabantu. Simemelela nokuba khe kujongwane nabantu ababukelwa phantsi abafana neembacu, abasebenzi abaphuma ngaphandle, abo badla iziyobisi, abajovi beziyobisi, amabanjwa nabathengisi bemizimba. Sibongoza amazwe ukuba khe agshintshe imigaqo siseko yawo xa kujonganwa namalungelo abantu kwabo bathi babe sisulu sempatheko mbi yokunyhashwa kwamalungelo abo.
